Everyone can be a photographer with access to our smartphones with the click of one button. We use our phone cameras daily to capture moments that capture our eyes. As easy as it looks to whip out our phones and click a button to take a picture there are so many skills and techniques that the amateur photographer does not know whether it is on your smartphone or on a professional camera. On Activingo, one of our photography teachers, Mandy Keathley teaches a variety of virtual photography classes. Mandy received an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from the University of Oregon, and a BFA in Sculpture from the University of North Texas. She is currently based in Bishop, CA, and teaches online at several colleges. She also spends a lot of time on the road rock climbing, attending artist residencies, and exploring wilderness spaces. Mandy’s photography has exhibited her work nationwide, including First Street Gallery in NYC, NY; White Box Gallery in Portland, OR; Disjecta Gallery in Portland, OR, and 500x Gallery in Dallas, TX. She has been awarded residencies at AiR Sandnes, Norway; Signal Fire Arts Residency, Kanab Creek Wilderness, AZ; and the Physics/Artist Residency at the Corwin Physics Lab, Eugene, OR, Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT; The Opossum House, Eugene, OR; and Playa, Summer Lake, OR.
